Some people live in older areas of our city, in old lanes and alleyways. The bricks in my artwork are from these old lanes of and alleys of Shanghai construction sites. They are smaller than normal bricks. They are low-fire bricks with a different firing cone. They tend to turn from black to red at the center, giving off a layered appearance.
