Andrzej Wasilewski

Artist

Born in 1975 in Torun (PL), graduated from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, the Faculty of Fine Arts in 2000. Works in Szczecin Academy of Art (PL).

Andrzej Wasilewski works are critical, philosophical and social. The disagreement with the existing reality, which appears in his work, is the result of growing out in the culture and atmosphere of "punk". Installations fight against themselves - denying their sense, self-destruct, contain the potential of a dangerous paralyzing weapon. A recognizable element is the visual form referring to the industrial iconography of machines, devices, architecture, based on simple, scientific experiments, but also quoting elements of popular culture.

He presented his works, among others, in Japan, China, Indonesia, USA, Uruguay, Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Spain, Poland, Italy, Ukraine and Lithuania
