Introduction
artist
Born in Tianjin in 1966, Fan Bo graduated from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in Oil Painting. He received a MFA from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and a PhD from Central Academy of Fine Arts. Currently he is the vice dean, professor and doctoral supervisor in Guangzhou Academy of Arts, committee member of the Oil Painting Committee at the China Artists Association, council member of Chinese Oil Painting Institute and contributing researcher of the College of Chinese Oil Painting at Chinese Academy of Oil Painting.
Fan Bo is a interdisciplinary artist leading with topics, medias and contexts appropriated to his main interests as the exploration into mind and the subsequent exchange with different protagonists from the society. Starting from his investigation of the zeitgeist to his creative experimentations on re-examining perception, he has always been keen and sensitive. It was a long journey passing by abstract and concept works in a temptation of representation of the unseen and untouchable human mind.Fan’s art clearly demonstrates how perception is tangible yet quite abstract. He builds the connection between perception and the world outside.
His works have been exhibited in renowned art institutions such as Charzen Museum of Art (Wisconsin, United States), Musée de Salagon (France), Museo dell'Opera del Duomo (Italy), National Art Gallery (Bulgaria), Arlitt Art Museum (Sweden), Museum Angerlehner (Austria), the Foundation for Art and Culture Bonn (Germany), Palazzo Miciel (Italy), MODEM Centre for Modern and Contemporary Arts (Hungary), KUNSTEN-Museum of Modern Art Aalborg (Denmark), Mantua Youth Museum (Italy), Imperial Museum of Arts (St.Petersburg, Russia), National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, National Art Museum of China, Shanghai Art Museum, Power Station of Art, Guangdong Museum of Modern Art, Hubei Museum of Art, United Art Museum, Tianjin Art Museum and Xi’an Art Museum.
Zhou Li’s works include paintings in mixed medias and installations. Freed from the limitations of materials, she persists in the development of personal aesthetics and thinkings on arts. Reasonable romance based on European cultures and bold elegance rooted in Chinese traditions can both be seen in her works. Her explorations in contemporary boundaries shows loving care for cultures and humanities. In each and everyone of her works, the warmly touching details have been pushed towards the visions by this kind of powers.
