Huang Xinbo

Artist

Huang Xinbo (1916-1980), formerly known as Huang Yuxiang, under the pen na me Yigong, was born in Taishan, Guangdong.

In the early twentieth century, Lu Xun introduced European woodcut prints to China. Huang Xinbo was one of the most important members of the emerging woodcut movement advocated by Lu Xun. His woodcut works absorbed some of the artistic elements of German expressionist artists such as Kollwitz, and was deeply influenced by the American printmaker Kent in terms of the poetic use of schema, knife and even symbolism. His works are unique in conception, clean language, and full of symbolism. He is recognized as one of the modern printmakers who a re best at using black and white contrast.

1936, he initiated the establishment of the Shanghai Woodcut Workers Association and participated in the second National Woodcut Mobile Exhibition; published the first collection of woodcut works "Road Tablet".

1938, he participated in the All-China Woodcarving Society Anti-Enemy Association established in Wuhan and was elected as a council member.

1939, he moved to Guilin and became one of the hosts of the meeting. After the Southern Anhui Incident, in order to commemorate the martyrs, he created works such as "He Did Not Die".

1943, he lived in Kunming. During this period, he published the woodcut collection "Heart Song". In 1946, he went to Hong Kong to work as a reporter for the "Chinese Commercial Daily" and initiated the organization of the Human Painting So ciety. His works during this period included "After Selling Blood" and so on.

1949, he returned to his hometown to join the Dongjiang guerrillas and then moved to Guangzhou with the army. The style of his works was influenced by the famous American printmaker Kent (Rockwell Kent 1882-1971).

Since 1950, he has served successively as the director of the Guangdong Provincial Art Studio, the chairman of the Guangdong Branch of the Chinese Artists Association, the vice chairman of the Guangdong Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and the dean of the Guangdong Academy of Painting. Member of the 4th National Committee of the Chinese Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Vice Chairman of the 3rd Council of the Chinese Artists Association. The works of this period include prints "Hengduan Nanhai", "Young People", as well as Lu Xun's poetry group paintings.

1978-1979, he held individual woodcut works exhibitions in Shenzhen and Beijing successively. Published "Selected Works of Xinbo Woodcuts", "Selected Works of Huang Xinbo", "Collections of Xinbo Prints", "Chunhua Sanji" (Hong Kong version) and so on.

B. 1977, Ha Erbin, Hei Longjiang.

He graduated from the Middle School affiliated to The Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1998 and from the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2002. He co-founded the representative youth art group "N12" in China in the following year.

Qiu xiaofei's artistic practice includes oil painting, watercolor, three-dimensional painting, sculpture, installation and other media, and his early creation focuses on image traceability related to memory.  The recent creation has experienced a process from "reappearance of painting" to "reappearance of painting". The theme of creation has gradually gone deep into the exploration of cultural psychology and social subconsciousness, explored the improvisation and instability in the process of the promotion of painting action, and sought a balance point with tension among the mixed and rich images.

Qiu Xiaofei’s works have been featured in group exhibitions in major museums and institutions in China and abroad including Kunstmuseum Bern, Switzerland; ZKM Museum, Karlsruhe, Germany; Tate Liverpool, Liverpool, UK; Groninger Museum, Groningen and Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam, the Netherlands; Castello Di Rivera, Turin, Italy; Tampa Museum of Art, Tampa, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville, and the New Britain Museum of Art, New Britain, USA; Times Art Museum and Guangdong Museum of Art, Guangzhou, OCAT Shenzhen, Shenzhen, Long Museum, Yuz Museum and Tank Shanghai, Shanghai, and G Museum, Nanjing, China, to name a few.

Since 2000, he has held 12 solo exhibitions and participated in nearly 80 group exhibitions, including The Real Thing, Tate Liverpool, Liverpool, UK (2007), the 10th Havana Biennale, Havana, Cuba (2009) and Oscurita (Meng Long): Collateral Special Institutional Exhibition of the 54th Venice Biennale, Venice, Italy (2011). Wang Yin

Artist

Borned in 1964 in Jinan and grew up in Qingdao.  She graduated from the Department of Stage Art, Central Academy of Drama in 1988.  Now she lives and works in Beijing.

Wang Yin runs her personal emotional experience and thought through her understanding of the history of modern painting, internalizing the influence of the outer edge into a purely personal life experience.  The objects with introverted and quiet colors in Wang Yin's paintings often convey the inner spirit of contemporary life under the cover. The subjects in the paintings are often nameless people, nameless objects and nameless places. The more nameless they appear, the closer they seem to be to the original state of our encounter with the world.

Wang Yin's recent solo exhibitions include:
2021"Wang Yin 2021", Floor A07, 798 Art District, Beijing
